0 Waste Razor

Hello lovelies. I recently got a 0 waste, all metal razor and a few of my friends wanted to know my experience so I’m going to share it here 🙂

WHY: Razors waste tons and tons of plastic so I wanted to find an alternative. I was mainly looking into safety razors because I know they are 0 waste and you can recycle the blades with certain programs.

In my search for a safety razor I actually found an even better option. It’s called the Leaf Razor. The leaf razor is all metal and it uses 3 blades. Of course you can use 1, 2 or 3, depending on what you need which is great. The thing that really sold me was the fact that the head moves. When I was looking into safety razors their heads are still so you really have to pay attention to the angle your hand is at and that really made me nervous. Another reason I really didn’t like the safety razor was because In many of them ( not all) the blade is exposed on both sides of the head. If I went to shave my bikini area I don’t have a lot of surface area down there and I feel like the second exposed blade would cut me quite often.

Safety razors are still a great alternative so please do your own research before buying!

COST:

First package is about 80$. it comes with a razor and 20 blades

The second package is about $109. It comes with a razor, a stand, 50 blades and a container to put used blades into

A stand separately is 20$

Blade disposer is 4$

20 blade pack is 9$

50 blade pack is $14

EXPERIENCE:

This razor is definitely one of the closest shaves I’ve ever had, with just a razor and soap. To get this close in the past I would typically exfoliate and use baby oil and it still wouldn’t get super close. Of course you should always exfoliate but I wanted to see what it did on it’s own.

I only use soap when I shave, I do not use shaving cream. I honestly just think it’s a marketing trick… they do the same thing. And this razor worked completely fine with it.

The moving head acts just as any typical plastic razor would and contours the shapes of your body. The head is VERY big, which made me nervous cuz I’m a very small person. It was a little tricky at first but I got used to it and I still got all of the areas I needed to

So this part is TMI but I want you to have all the info so it’s alright 🙂 I haven’t shaved my bikini area in a very long time so it was pretty long. When I first went over it I did notice it pulled one of my hairs. It wasn’t anything to bad, but if you do have longer hair just be patient and mindful of that!

If you pay the little bit extra they will send you a little box that you can empty your old blades into. And you cannot typically recycle these in local programs but once you fill the tin you can send it back to the company and they recycle them!

CONCLUSION:

Overall I am very happy about spending the 80$+ dollars on this razor. I think it really is worth it and when you need to buy new blades it cost almost nothing.

If you can’t afford these please look into safety razors as an alternative for your plastic one! The change is amazing and it really really helps the planet. Safety razors are typically more affordable and you can find them on amazon!

Youth to the People Thoughts

Hey guys. Back again doing a thoughts post. If you’re new here my name is Hayley and I post about vegan skin care, make up and fashion. Youth to the People is a vegan skin care brand that I’ve been trying for the last few months.

The two Youth to the People products we’re going to talk about are the Hydrate and Firm Eye Cream and the Adaptogen Deep Moisture Cream. Both of these products are of course vegan and cruelty free!

Hydrate and Firm Eye Cream

Before I used vegan products I used the Banana Bright Eye Cream by Ole Henriksen. I loveeeee this stuff and I’m sad I can’t use it but its not vegan and I am not willing to use it anymore. This eye cream from Youth to the People doesn’t compare to that one. I know it doesn’t claim to brighten but I really love that about eye creams so maybe this just isn’t the one for me.

It’s unscented

It’s a reallllllly thick texture. You really need to rub it in and sometimes I feel like the product is just sitting on my skin. This usually causes me to wipe a lot of it off so I can put my make up on and I just feel like it’s not doing a lot for me. I think there are a lot of cheaper options that don’t sit on the skin and I’d rather spend my money on

Cost : $35.00 USD for .5 oz or 15 grams

Adaptogen Deep Moisture Cream

They advertise this moisturizer for dry sensitive skin. I previously used the purple Tatcha one. This one doesn’t feel as thick as that one but who cares right?

What I loveeee about this is it doesn’t leave your face feeling sticky. I don’t wear foundation so if a moisturizer is sticky, I typically won’t use it. It’s also unscented!

For the price point, I don’t know how I feel about it. It definitely moisturizers but I feel like I have to use a lot and I’ve only used it for 4 or 5 weeks and have gone through most of it.

Cost : $58.00 USD for 2 oz or 60 grams

Ultimately you know your own skin, so never try anything just because I tell you! What I say is just something to take into consideration when trying a new brand!
